Actually Warwick this was a question that a contestant on who wants to be a millionaire got wrong.
he thought anthony quinn was greek. because the audience told him so.
stick that in your pipe and smmoke it.
as for jay silverheels being a member of the iroquois nation. "Jay was a full blooded mohawk born may 26th 1919, on the six nations indian reservation in brantford, ontario, canada. He was a wrestler, boxer and lacrosse player. He won two wrestling championships, finished second in the Eastern Square finals of the Golden Gloves boxing championship in Madison Square Garden, and became a very successful member of Canada's National Lacrosse Team. It was with this team that Jay came to the U.S. in 1938. Among many of his movies, Jay played Geronimo in two different films. Broken Arrow and Walk the Proud Land. He was very dedicated to helping other Native American actors and was strongly opposed to the practice of hiring white actors to play Indians (like anthony quinn). He thought it was important to give Native American actors the opportunity to play those roles themselves. He formed the Indian Actors Workshop in Echo Park in the late 1960's and actively encouraged talented young performers to study their craft there."
narrative by "clayton moore"
and his real name was Harold J Smith
he didn't become jay silverheels officially until he was 52 years old
