What I find disrespectful is the constant reminding of the Simpson case. It was ONE case out of a distinguished career. Nobody waited till he was dead to say these things. The MEDIA waited till he was dead to air them -- in between stirring up the Simpson crap. People ought to be euologized for the best they have contributed to the world. In Johnnie Cochran's case, that's a great deal. If your stomach is turned by the nice things people do have to say about him, that's pretty sad for you.
What do you expect, the media played up the Simpson case for all it was worth when it was "hot", and Cochran played to that, along with virtually everyone else. So guess what happens when Cochran dies, of course they bring up the Simpson case. Quelle suprise!
And thank you for distorting what I've said its so much fun to be twisted. What I was referring to was the revolting spectacle of suck up smooze that erupts whenever someone famous dies, saying nice things is one thing, suck up is another. People all too often don't just say nice things they engage in serious suck up far too much of the time.
I simply noted that the great majority of the coverage I saw concerning Cochran after his death consisted of talk about his real achievements, and unfortunately empty suck up smooze. I'am sorry but I just don't get it, people say all sorts of vicious things about someone when their alive but then they die, they become a saint. The faint order of hypocrisy / insincerity hangs in the air. This simply sickens me.
