The only way to "prove" that an UNDERGROUND WATER VEIN is where a dowser says it is - is by a well driller drilling down to it. However, one can "prove" that a DOWSABLE LINE is where a dowser says it is by either learning how to be able to reliably dowse one's self, or by having other known and confirmed dowsers come and dowse the spot in question.
"Proving" one's ability to dowse for water is actually quite easy - I have at times inadvertently done so when asked to find the location of a septic tank, or of a water line into or out of someone's house. As sort of a parlor trick one can also dowse water flowing through a garden hose, or through household cellar pipes. The line will be there when the water is running, and not be there when the water is turned off - regardless of whether or not the dowser has any other way of knowing when the water is being turned on or off. Furthermore, one can determine both the water inflow and water outflow lines - the water outflow dowsable line will continue to be there for a few moments longer than the inflow, after the inflow pipe has been turned off.

My point was that they ALL appear to have been built to face easterly. If warmth or interior light were the issue I should think they would all want to be facing southerly - especially given the long winter season in these northerly climes when one would most want maximum interior exposure to as much of the available light and heat as possible. This is why people up this way build in extra glass on their southern exposures.
