The presence of any such intersection is not proven on the basis of the beliefs and claims of dowsers .

Lots of buildings face east or thereabouts , it makes sense to get the early light and warmth in the morning . At the latitude of New England anyone wanting to orient their building towards an astro event like the solstcie or equinox has a a lot of leeway .
summer solstice sun rise and winter solstice sun rise are likely to differ from the equinox by as much as 35 degrees i.e. three quite distinct orientations covering approx 70 degrees of the horizon .
