Donald,
I have read many newspaper articles from the 19th century that report discovery of giant skeletons in North America. Some even reported physical anomalies such as double rows of teeth. However none ever included a photograph and for some reason all the physical evidence has mysteriously disappeared.
Patagonia translates as "Land of Big Feet" (Bernard is that close?). Anyhow the first Spanish explorers reported giants inhabiting that region. [

Also they wore a large cape that enhanced the impression of a massive individual. We do have archeological evidence of these large individuals but they hardly classify as giants. Some of those individuals did have huge mandibles. That short lived Discovery channel show Digging for the Truth did show Josh Bernstein fitting one huge jaw over his chin.[
