Hi Hermione. Every single site I have checked claims that The Ancient Egyptians used base 10. This is clearly in error. They operated using Base 7 but I have never heard anyone make that distinction or claim before. All Egyptologists claim that Egypt used base 10 and that claim is based solely on the fact that certain measurements were multiples of 10.
Have they never considered that in a base 10 system fractions become redundant and are not needed. So I am curious is this truly a new way of looking at Ancient Egyptian mathematics that I have found and has it been totally overlooked by the entire Egyptology world ?
Cheers
