Question:
When did the practice of wearing these five crowns cease.
The White - Narmer Palette (first instance of seeing it)
The Red - Narmer Palette (first instance of seeing it)
The Double Crown - The Double Crown is attested in representations from the 1st Dynasty onward. It can be found in the Pyramid Texts, and from the Middle Kingdom on, the Double Crown may replace the Red Crown in complementary representations of the Upper and Lower Egyptian crowns.
The Blue - is attested in texts from the Second Intermediate Period onward. and is one of the most common headdresses found in ancient Egypt worn by kings and gods alike.
The Two Feathers Crown - attested from the reign of Sneferu in the 4th Dynasty onward.
The Atef Crown - The earliest depiction of the Atef Crown dates to the reign of Sahure (5th Dynasty).
If The Double Crown symbolizes the joining of Upper and Lower Egypt then why would any Pharaoh ever wear just the Upper or Lower Crown by themselves after the unification?
