There has to be some mediation here.
2x1 rectangle geometry (such as in the KC) allows certain proportions to be recognized. One of those proportions, and a very simple one at that involving the diagonal, can easily have numbers applied, such as for example 55 : 89 or 89 : 144. It’s not rocket science to us or to anyone experimenting with 2x1 rectangles and we know the Egyptian liked their 2x1 rectangles. The Greeks likewise either discovered it for themselves or inherited the knowledge.
It's therefore common for us, not always knowing the basics of proportion, to absolutely deny the ancient Egyptians this simple little luxury, IOW there is absolutely nothing about the extension of 2x1 rectangle geometry that couldn't have been known by the architects of pyramids.
So the "so called" Fibonacci number series is probably as old as the hills or as old as 2x1 rectangles.
What is not acceptable is all those who "join the dots" with out knowing how or why the Egyptians might have gone about it.. We have seen countless examples over the last few years and always they come back with new and exciting revelations. Anyone can join the dots and lay out grids but none can explain method or show intent.

The great amount of labour involved in quarrying and transporting such a mass of masonry as even the casing, has always been a cause of astonishment - Sir Flinders Petrie.
