It is not clear from the names of these appendices how much Creighton is still trying to make of the electoral episode. Close attention to the law as it stood in 1807—statute and case law—suggests that Vyse did not act unlawfully. Creighton contributed (more vehemently than cogently) to discussions in which this point was raised, so he is perfectly well aware of it.
In any case, we may on past experience fairly discount Creighton’s implied promises as bluster.
