I did not mean the granite ball which is hardly spectacular.

Step one is accepting Petrie's sphere theory.

Step two is the clue of 6/pi from the basalt ball.

Step three is contemplating Petrie's pi theory in conjunction with 6/pi...

But as you reject step one, you can't contemplate step three.

It isn't actually necessary to accept step two as anything other than a fortuitous coincidence.

In my opinion rejecting step one is where you have stepped off in the wrong direction.
