In fact, for more evidence on this, you might be interested in looking back at old threads debunking the Davidovitz Geopolymer Theory of pyramid construction.
He claimed to have discovered "synthetic zeolyte 23" or something like that in the limestone samples he had procured from Khufu's pyramid. In fact, the samples were from the surface of one of the passages. He ground up the ENTIRE sample, mixing both interior and exterior of the stone before testing it.
TUrns out, "synthetic zeolyte 28" was an amonia-based chemical. In a word: urine. Because they had used the sample as a mixed batch, he was unable to discern between the actual make up of the stone, and any residue from paint, coatings, or in this case... people's bad toilet habits.
So, if you want to talk about what may have had the well shaft smelling so bad, let's try discussing the well-evidenced things first.
