According to my current understanding the PT's were supposedly a collection of texts that had been assembled over a period of centuries, rewritten, reedited, recollated and finally carved onto the pyramid of Unas.

But recently my own research, in a completely different direction, made me wonder whether this was true. What if the PT's were, in fact, the writings of one individual? Right now my copy of the PT's takes up a couple of hundred pages, which is something well within the range of a single author. Look at all the thousands of religious texts that were written by a single author.

Consider the fact that before the PT's were written AFAIK, there isn't anything like them (I Know I'm on thin ice here. OK isn't my specialty at all) anywhere in Egypt. Then they explode in Unas's tomb. Which makes me think that some solitary AE literary genius wrote them.

So I'm wondering what is the evidence, pro and con, that the PT's were written by a single person?
