No, we
don't know that it's "simply a distortion of the facts", etc. etc. After due consideration, it might of course eventually be concluded that the school of thought to which you allude is mistaken in some way, or that its data and conclusions are invalid for some reason: but, for the moment, it is not safe to say that we
know this.
