AS: "Yes. It's quite obvious that Osiris was a tremendously different element introduced in that specific timeframe. He goes from virtually non-existant regional vegetation god to the virtual centerstage character in the Egyptian underworld."
Ritva: "Vegetation god? Can you showe me evidence of Osiris being a vegetation god?"
Hi Ritva,
With his usual messianic zeal, AS is still repeating his woefully inaccurate assertions - apparently, he has only "heard" about it, but is very coy about giving supporting evidence to back up his assertions.

As I have mentioned before, Osiris, far from being a "virtually non-existent regional vegetation god", was a very very important deity right from the time his name first starts to appear in the archeological record, although no one seems to know with any certainty where he came from or even what his name means.
'Great God' and 'Lord of Maat', were associated with Osiris in the first secure mention of his name around mid Dyn 5. The architrave over Ptahshepses's 'false door', "contains five lines of text consisting of standard invocation-formulae to Osiris and Anubis". The top line begins: "An offering the king gives, an offering Osiris, the Great God, Lord of Maat gives" (Htp di niswt Htp di wsir nTr aA nb mAat), so the idea he was originally a "virtually non-existent regional vegetation god" is just another one of those irresponsible exercises in spin.
