Mike, I am not exactly sure what you mean by an eternal Universe?
Since energy processing and conversion is ALWAYS happening real time in the here and now. That is what reality is all about to me...
In other words, when thinking in frequency, so to speak, vs. time, there is no such thing as eternal since "eternal" is still a time concept!!!

I agree, it is all action/reaction or cause and effect! This also implies a start and an end to every cycle...

Well, the big bang theory directly suggests a starting point for the beginning (or the creation!) of the Universe...
However, I see it more like there are multiple cycles on top of each other at different frequencies. Therefore, only synchronization would directly suggest a single CLOCK source...
Mike, when looking at things from a frequency perspective, the clock (or heart beat) is the main reference. Like for example, all computers and even the Internet and other communication systems (wired and wireless) can ONLY communicate properly with the help of a clock source. For synchronous communications, the same clock source is shared and for asynchronous communications, including wireless systems, the clock is actually derived from the received data, but the coding and encoding protocols still must be known a prior, meaning that a certain point, they ALL shared the same info/data and clock source...
That is how it works, otherwise, we couldn't even be sending these messages over the Internet...
