I agree Allan I've been working on a movie scripts (More for my own amusement than anything.). And it requires special software for the formatting etc. Hollywood only wants "Tent pole" movies (i.e. mega best sellers). The 'indies' are almost exclusively some enterprising genius filmaker that has found a way to produce his/her script free of Hollywood restraints and operates outside the usual distribution channels but it's still hyper-competetive. After all a dollar is a dollar and there are only so many of them to go around. FWICS cable is waking up to the possibility that people want VARIETY not the same old can of spam served up on a different plate. So we get something like "Breaking Bad". But still you're going up against top notch professionals who know how to play the system.
I think a novel is still the fastest, most effective way to get your message out there.
