Its funny because when I came to england as a child of english parents and having gone to schools where I was one of the only white kids, I was considered racists because it was that time where township raids where the nightly news. This was despite the fact I'd had more black friends than most people judging me had ever met - and I was 13. But the most funny thing, well funny in hindsight anyway, was that the people that accused me of being a racist saw all black people in South Africa as the same. When I said to them that the Zulu's respected the british because they had beaten them in battle, but considered the Xhosa's to be inferior (and used some zulu terms for them), it enforced their opinion that I was racist. In the next breath they would say something about the "chinkees" or the "pakis".
Its the same issue that happens all the time, especially in terms of sexism. We are not all the same, the only people that claim we are are the ones that have the predjudice. We are all unique as people, as cultures and as sexes. Vive la differance. Thats what a healthy society would think IMO. Equal but different, definitely not the same.
