Hi All
As some of you know, on the 22nd of October my fiancé Laura and I are getting married. After many discussions about names and her not wanting to be a Smith (not sure I can blame her) we’ve decided to go double barrelled.
Now
the only thing about doing this is that (in Britain at least) the bloke has no right to change his name on marriage. The easiest way to do it is for the man to change his name by deed poll (a frighteningly easy process) a couple of months before, and then the wife takes the new surname, as normal on the wedding day.
<coughs rather nervously>
Though its not amazingly important, I thought I had better announce this here… which after all is just about the only messageboard I go on, and one of the few online communities I’m involved in, and though I had planned to only start using my ‘new’ name once we were married the Deed poll is quite specific in ensuring that everyone who knows me should be aware of this from this point onwards.
I’m no longer Michael Keith Smith!!!
My new name is Michael Keith Gungaram-Smith
(that might answer to question to members of brainfoods why my id is mikekgs… its not about killgrams )
Thanks for your time… sorry for wasting the bandwidth if you think I wasted it.
Now back to service as normal for me… though with a name that doesn’t fit on a debit card!
MikeS…
Erm BTW I think I’ll keep MikeS as my name on here!
