Reading the additions to this thread, I begin to ask "favourite colour for what?" As I look out of my window I see fields and trees -- spring green is my favourite colour for grass and leaves, but it would look really stupid on the cattle grazing across the valley: my favourite colour for cattle is the brown shades of Guernsey cattle, not the black and white of the Fresians on the opposite hillside.
For my own clothing, I prefer muted colours, mostly variations on "autumnal" colours and olives and khakis, but my favourite colour for silk scarves (or buffs) is indigo. Except in summer. On sunny days my favourite colours for shirts are white and bright purple fades. For other people's clothing, my favourite colours depends on the person.
My favourite colours for walls is white (or off-white). My favourite colours for kites are grey fades and fiery colours (not on the same kite!) for sports kites, but bright rainbow colours for single-line kids kites, and bright against a dark background for rokkakus. Here is a sports kite I made a few weeks ago; I
really like these colours, but I wouldn't paint my walls these colours, wouldn't want grass or cattle to be these colours, and would probably only buy clothes in these colours if I was feeling truly depressed at the time and felt I needed cheering up:
When I do prefer bright colours to wear is when I am walking in remote areas, and I wear a red or yellow jacket.
Oh, and my favourite colour for ink is Watermans blue-black.
A single favourite colour? No way!
