I'm not sure why, but Judge Hittner in Houston has been going ballistic on both employers and jury dirty shukers (thinking of Ben Baglin again, lol).

He forced one employer to rehire a guy he fired while the guy was on jury duty, but the rehiring only covers the time the guy's on the jury. That I approve of because people should not be penalized by employers for doing mandatory civic service. However, he brought one woman into court for leaving jury duty early when she got sick. Ouch! That's a bit extreme, imv.
