Yes, when we manage to develop efficient biological control systems for the pests in question. I have absolutely no problem with the idea of the long term replacement of chemical pesticides - it's what I've been involved in researching for the last 14 years! However, we are not yet at the point where the alternatives are either as effective or as cheap as the chemicals.
Trust me, there are a lot of people (many of them friends and colleagues of mine) working to resolve the situation. However, in the meantime we still need to control the pests.
