Er ...

I don't know ... Sometimes one can attempt to contemplate the vastness of the cosmos, and the unimaginable age of the universe, and its unfathomable mysteries (quarks, black holes, string theory, etc. etc.) and can quite lose sight of one's own place in it.

But then I remember something like the fact that I haven't done the ironing, or put away the supermarket shopping, and I'm instantly recalled to the immediate and mundane.

I suppose it might be different for people who have their own children: although, in a sense, we all have children. I don't know, Jammer! I really don't know ...
