<HTML>Joe,
Their argument certainly may be flawed... but it doesn't mean they're wrong. That was the problem with the "debunking" board... it had an impossible task from the beginning... proving a negative... proving that something DID NOT exist.
That's impossible.
And, as long as there is a possibility, there will be those who capitalize on it.
So long as we keep finding evidence of lOST cIVILIZATIONS (notice lower case letters, please), then there will be speculation that each of them was THE Lost Civilization.
Programs like the Horizon one simply show people that the world, and its history, is much more complex than the GH's of the world would have us think. However, this work is a thankless task... it's like telling people who were expecting a sprint that it is, in actuality, a marathon.
Ugh.
Let's not be rude to the people who got them in the race in the first place, though... even if they DID promise them a sprint to get them there. Because of these "spring promoters" we have a LOT more people in the race than ever before.
Even my son is now heading off to college... and guess what his desired major is?
Yup.
Archaeology.
And its because of Yonaguni that he's finally found an interest. He knows the work involved... the lab work. The dull stuff that nobody tells you about (sorting float...YUCK!). But he's just intrigued enough to carry through with it. He finds marine archaeology to be fascinating, and wants to dedicate his life to it.
Never would have happened without "FOTG".
It seems rather Machiavellian, but I'm a quasi-believer that the ends can, sometimes, justify the means.
