Nobody least of all myself dispute the credentials of either Archie Roy or Chandra Wickramasinghe. They are both incredibly intelligent guys and well respected in their respective disciplines. Having said that though that does not make every opinion that they have ever expressed to be correct. Indeed Chandra is famous for expressing unusual views in many different areas in science, including his theory that new viruses originated in space and his belief that pyramids were air raid shelters to protect the AEs from meteor attacks. Like all of us his ideas are only proven right or wrong by what the evidence indicates and even the best arguments can be destroyed on the basis of fresh evidence.

All I'm saying is that what makes Archie or Chandra right about something like the OCT is just the same as for anybody else - a good argument based on reliable evidence. You use their credentials as some kind of stick to beat your opponents with but it would be of greater interest to hear the content of their arguments and not the in depth details of their past achievements.

PS I really don't think Chandra would object to be referred to as a 'guy'. He may hold more titles and awards than I could imagine but he's still another regular human being and I'm sure he wouldn't want to be placed on some lofty perch.
