<HTML>At various times in various civilisations there have been "archaising" periods. The reign of Seti I marked, IIRC, a revitalisation in the quality of the art - there'd been a "high" during the Amarna period, then a bit of a decline, and then things improved again during Seti's reign. There was also a "repeating of births" at that time which is only very infrequently attested. Additionally, there's the "passage" that disappears from the burial chamber of Seti's tomb - it's been suggested, IIRC, that this was some sort of attempt to "connect" with the Underworld - Stadelmann has suggested that this was why the subterranean chamber in the GP wasn't finished. I don't see it as impossible/unlikely that Seti would have built in an archaic style at Abydos.
