<HTML>Hi Darius
This is so so off topic :-)
>>****Weren't they Claire??? Not only did they vote National Socjalists into power but Nazi'z policies were entusiastically supported by overwhelming majority of German population.
I don't agree with your sentiment at all - for example what is the evidence that the German people even knew of the holocaust - certainly they didn't know of the extent. Also they voted for Hitler way before the war - and you have to take into account the political situation they were in. I'm sorry Darius, but I cannot accept demonisation of the German people - or the overwhelming majority - whatever. Wars are fought with armies commanded by generals - they don't take votes on what to do - they are commanded. I agree that the Nazis, Hitler et al, are guilty, but not the German people en masse. In any case atrocities were committed by both sides, as is the case in any war. We're all people - you can't brand whole nations guilty if you ask me.
>>> There is no point saying that it is morally acceptable to kill 'guilty' people
> in war, but immoral to kill the 'innocent' - who judges who is which?

****Hmmm that's almost exactly what bishop of Besancon said when asked how to tell apart catholics and Kathar heretics before the sloughter started: "Kill them all, God will recognise his own".
You misunderstood what I said I think?
BTW did you know how the Afghan army used to kill Russians they captured? They cut the skin off their stomachs and laid them in the sun to die slowly.
