<HTML>Don't confuse "best guess" with "flights of fancy".
Take the "earth is flat" theory that was based on available information. It was just a guess about the shape... and it was wrong.
Or Newton's law of energy conservation. Good guess... until e=mc2 came along and totally trounced it.
"Theory" is just a fancy, dressed up word for "guess". Now, if your guesses are baseless, then you've got fantasy going on. If you're giving your best estimate/guess/interpretation/theory, then it is based on available facts/evidence, and your piecing together of the puzzle.
All in all, Mikey, we're just arguing semantics. No one likes to hear that scientists are just "guessing" about human history... or cloning... or global warming. But really, that's all it is.
Or, at least that's MY guess...
