Brief history; found in a suburb of Mexico City in 1959. Sat in a museum until 2001 when Sylvia Gonzales was given permission to take several skulls to the UK for study. Dated at Oxford to be 10,755rcybp (calibrated to about 12,740BP and rounded to 13,000 in press reports). Before the recent recovery of the human remains from the flooded cave in Quintana Roo, Penon Woman was generally considered to be the oldest dated human remains from the Americas.
Here is a brief note on George Webber's site:[
www.andaman.org]. The skull is described as dolichocephalic as are most of the crania found in the Americas older than 8000BP.
I have been searching for a detailed description of the crania with discrete traits and good photos but apparently nothing has been published yet. Also I have been unable to find any publications on the DNA.
