They also remind me of old fables with their great
and exotic illustrated art, and of books by writers
like Orhan Pamuk and Hermann Hesse.. something akin
to the Arabic/Persian version of the picaresque novel..
our hero seeks the philosopher's stone, love, kismet,
or the jewel of great wisdom in a journey that moves
in part through the great marketplaces seething with
the variety of humanity and their wonderful stories.
