Thanks for the information, oh and the scribe position has not entirely melted away. In the ME you can find guys who stillwrite out messages and forms for the uneducated. One such establishment is near me and the last time I went by they were busy using typewriters to write out messages in Tamil, Baluchi, Telugu, Oriya, Malaylam and dozen other sub-continent languages. They service the crews of the Dhows, and the many construction, cleaning and service organizations employee that seem to rely on uneducated workers.
