Well Anthony in case somebody attributes that "ludicrous simile" to you please refer them to me and I will be only to happy to set them straight once and for all. Here's the good news! I just did a google search for "cutting like warm butter" and came up with 3,820,000 hits, "cutting steel like warm butter" gave me 523,000 hits, "cutting titanium like butter" 79,000 hits. Digging a little deeper I found that many of the uses of the simile predate my post by several years. I imagine if I dug deeper I could find it dated back several decades. And I imagine if I was so inclined that the AE's had a simile that was roughly equivalent "....cutting something like it was warm butter (or yogurt, baklava, or whatever the AE's considered soft and delectable.). Clearly anybody that would attribute that "ludicrous simile" to you must be a complete computer illiterate or just a complete illiterat. Unfortunately as much as I'd like to lay claim to this powerful and elegant simile. Apparently it's so old that it's on a respirator. Well we're both off the hook!
