I had a brief discussion of it with Mike Moseley and he said it was very promising. It also sounds a LOT like the proto-khipu that I mentioned before that was found at Paracas and dated to 650 AD. Somewhere(!!) I saw a picture of it .. I'll try to round that up.

Yes ... it sound like evolution to me though if you have information devices with cord wrapped around sticks... then cord wrapped around warp cords ... then the Inca khipus.

They've found some great cotton textiles at Caral ... including some items of dress. There have also been several "God's Eyes" found (one at least with two different colors of cotton used other with a single color of cotton). There was some cotton thread IIRC ...

Its not really surprising considering they have found squash (can you imagine... squash!!)
