My contention and the effort of the paper was to illustrate an unbroken continuity between the corded system of archaic China and that of the Andean civilizations.

No, there were examples found in the Central valley of Mexico, as well as the knot being a paramount symbol of Mayan royalty. Look at any vase and the headgear worn.
