<HTML>Hi Garrett,
1) Diversionary effort? The very point I was making was that people can pass comment and that one does not need to defer to experts.
2) I don't mind your views on Schoch's work. If you find his work based on false premises and faulty methods then fine. But, if you do not find his work faulty then it is not about 'fitting' evidence into a preconceived perspective, rather it is about evidence motivating new perspectives. Just because Schoch's work is relatively young is no reason to reject it when bringing it into comparison with the orthodox body of knowledge in Egyptology. It is a dubious project to do so given the background to the saga. To be fair, the 'Earlier Sphinx' perspective must be given equal labour time to investigate. Problem is it is very difficult nowadays to do that investigation. This adds to the prejudice that exists against it. Not only does a body of opinion exist against it but it is very difficult for it to win anyone over in the academic world.
3) By all means, other approaches toward his data should be looked for but all the animosity that has been revealed in this saga is really unnecessary.
4) BTW, just leave the quotes out.
Cheers,
