I am not a trained geologist. I am in no position to assess Schoch's geological case on my own. What I do know, however, is that the historical implications of his idea are not borne out by the evidence and that his geological case is not airtight (that is, it's been criticized by several trained geologists who take a dim view of his methods/reasoning).
Therefore I can (a) accept Schoch's contended proposition of an older Sphinx which runs against the archaeological evidence or (b) accept that Schoch's idea is probably incorrect (as many geologists insist it is) and adopt a position that fits all the available evidence. I choose (b).
