<HTML>Dear Jane,
I wrote my honest opinion about your book in answer to Jeff, with no intent to offend. My comments about our correspondence refer to a discussion on an email list, which you abruptly quit.
You have expressed references to "Scorpio" and "Taurus" and the fact that the "announcer stars" of the equinox or solstice would have shifted to a new constellation. There is no evidence to support your idea that the Egyptians knew the Greek constellations, prior to the late period. There is a great deal of evidence that the Egyptians saw the sky differently from the Greeks. You simply ignore the Egyptian decans, which are known from the latter half of the third millennium BCE, in favor of the Greek constellations. This suggests you are not all that familiar with Egyptian texts and scholarly works.
The fact that your ideas on the origins of the Elder Horus are outdated was discussed in the EEF archives in April, 1998. New research into the predynastic origins of Horus and Seth has come to light since you wrote. In addition, a great deal of new material has been written on the stars in the last ten years or so, particularly in German, which is also not incorporated into your book.
