<HTML>The reason you don't understand how he perfectly balanced an 18,000 pound stone is because he didn't.
As with most puzzles, you are looking in amazement at the finished product, and sit in awe of the incredible process that must have created it from these pieces.
The flaw in your perception is that he did not perfectly balance an 18,000 pound rock.
You see, the gate that they lifted with six men and a crane is not the gate that was put there 70 years ago.
"Huh?" You say?
70 years ago, Ed Leedskalnin maneuvered a block of stones into the rough positions that they occupy today. He VERY roughly balanced an 18,500 pound block, and then carved the sides down until it ended up balanced.
What you are seeing is the finished product... not the process.
I hope this is an example of the analytical ability that I have brought to bear on the lifting problem. No magic. No special technology for this one. Just common sense, and a bigger picture.
I'm releasing this one early so that you can have an idea of how my mental process works. I want you to see the rational, common sense approach I have to these problems.
It is the same style of thinking (although nowhere near the same technology) that I used in discovering the Herodotus Machine.
I hope it helps
