No, it's more of a case of coincidence and the ability to create pattern even when there is none. For every "proof" you can find of something numerological, you will find that it won't hold true for most other cases.
In some cases you have to transliterate to another language to get your "match." In other cases, you have to use a different numerology scheme (the English language one as opposed to the Hebrew version.) As classic example here is Oggyos' making connections by translating things into modern (or ancient, depending on what it is) Greek in order to make correlations -- languages that didn't exist (or were extinct or even unrelated to) events and people.
If there was a "universal" then we would see concrete, 95% accurate patterns.
...what you may not know about me is that I was a professional astrologer when I was in college and also a professional numerologist, Tarot card reader, and palm reader. After a few years of doing this, it became obvious that what was happening was a "consensual reality" and cold reading. The client would remember the correct parts (or would nod, which indicated to me that I was on the right track) and not remember the misses. "Truths" were often generalities ("there were times when you were growing up when you wished your parents understood you better...".)
In short, I was cheap advice for people who needed some idea of what to do next to get themselves out of a situation. I used to keep cards of agencies with me (shelters for battered women, etc) and would hand them out if the client needed their services and seemed receptive to the idea.
Although the scientist in me tried very hard to find a good set of correlating data (including snooping at birth records), there really is no good correlation.
It's all in the mind.
