NONE of the above. Weren't the Greeks herding goats when writing was first in use in the "Civilized Land" (Sumeria)?

The origin is likely from pictures representing words, as in Sumerian cuneiform scripts (circa 5000+ bp) having pictographic heritage of hieroglyphics, then phoneticizing the picture, then acrophonics. Sumerian cuneiform characters ceased to be pictorial while Egyptian hieroglyphs remained so.

Here we go again!! The meter is a modern unit, and not even accurately scaled to the earth.

It is important to realize that evidence is critical to any scientific idea,
