Well ... repairs required to ensure that the structure continues to stand might be one thing. But there's a school of thought that would question whether the proposed restoration would make the construction "look nice" at all, and would argue that it's not always a good idea to try to return things to their original state. Think of Sir Arthur Evans and the reconstituted frescoes at Minos, possibly invented by Swiss artists - [

It would have been preferable of course, if the pyramids could have been left with their facings of gleaming limestone,as their creators intended: but historical processes have meant that they've come down to us in the state they have, battered and dilapidated. But all those missing blocks and tumbled stones are part of their story, like wrinkles on an elderly person: and it's not always a good idea to try and Botox your way out of old age ...
