A curious thought from an individual who signs off every post with “hail Atlantis”

It makes no difference if the ancient Egyptians understood or used pi, other than the ability to say they did or they didn’t. Clearly they knew what a circle was and they tried to accurately calculate or define the area of a circle in mathematical terms, and it’s hard to prove why they made such efforts. Perhaps it was because the moon and sun were round, or that the ripples caused by a drop of water in a cup were circular… it’s anyone’s guess. All great discoveries throughout history are the result of making a guess first, especially in mathematics. Quantitative observations prove many things that occur in nature, things like measuring time and Nile River water levels to name a few. After all, atomic theory is just a theory and pi is as well because it represents a form of infinity just as unit fractions do.
