The Satellite Pyramid of the Bent Pyramid is a model of the Red Pyramid (Petrie's North Stone Pyramid).

The slope of the Satellite Pyramid is the cotangent of 100/99 in my model with the base side length as 100 cubits from Petrie. Its distance from the centre of the south side of the Bent Pyramid is 99 cubits based on Petrie.

Division of the base of the Satellite Pyramid into quarter squares means that projections at 45 degrees yield a square at the centre of the base of the Bent Pyramid, and that square frames a circle with a circumference of 360 cubits which is conspicuous from Petrie's model of the base side length of the Bent Pyramid as 360 cubits.

Petrie's survey shows that the Satellite Pyramid is skew at an angle very close to the cotangent of 180 which is taken as the intended skew.

The cotangent of 180 is 7/22 cubits on the model 360 cubit circle from the pi approximation 22/7 which in modern parlance would mean an angle of 1/Pi degrees for the pi approximation 22/7, but simply represents the conversion of a very small angle of a circle to a cotangent (by taking the arc as the 'rise' and the radius as the 'run').

An angle of 45 degrees minus 7/22 degrees is 44 degrees + 15/22 degrees which is precisely the cotangent of 100/99.

From modern trigonometry the cotangent 100/99 is an angle of 44 degrees 42.7 arc minutes.
And 44 degrees + 15/22 degrees is 44 degrees 40.9 arc minutes, so precisely the cotangent of 100/99 within 1.8 arc minutes.

The Satellite Pyramid may be regarded as a scale model of the Red Pyramid, and as having been built to project its symbolism. Sneferu would have been able to imagine the Red Pyramid before it was built, and his workers would have been encouraged by the model. The king, the architect and an inner circle of priests would have known its secret

Petrie calculated the height of the Satellite Pyramid incorrectly as 2034 inches having quoted an angle of 44 degrees 34 minutes and a mean side length of 2064.6 cubits.

Petrie wrote 'This is certainly intended for 100 cubits of 20.646 inches plus or minus 0.005 inches.' (for the side length of the base).

As a modern decimal analysis:

The projected height is actually 2036/2 inches from Petrie's measurements or 1018 inches which converts to approximately 49.3 cubits.

The proposed cotangent of 100/99 would be a height of 49.50 cubits.

An angle of 44 degrees + 15/22 degrees would be 49.45 cubits.

A template with a base of 100 digits would have a vertical height of 99 digits or 98.9 digits.

I think the design height was 49.5 cubits, so a simple template.

Petrie wrote: 'This is probably the same angle as the North Stone Pyramid which I observed as 44 degrees 36 minutes on its core masonry.'

The same master template was probably used for both the Satellite Pyramid and the North Stone Pyramid.
