Symbols are difficult for each rod has a tendency to mix them up, omit or add them. The symbol that looks like a star however is fairly consistent. I believe the image refers to a survey protractor. I hope to have more to say on this shortly.

The rod is not divided into 22 and 6 parts. The photo shows duality. First you have 3,3,2 and then you have 2,3,3. IOW With out the first two divisions you still have multiples of three (as confirmed by the second set of bars (just visible top right)

The rods of AE are almost all different. By the 18th dynasty I doubt whether the originals were
understood at all.

There is a small correction to my first post. I don't think this rod actually has a large division at the end, just another multiple of three dedicated to the long cubit (royal in AE).

I'm not the first to mention threes instead of fours.

Herodotus has that honor.
