I didn't say anything about a pyramid collapsing.
Sneferu could have rejected Meidum for a whole variety of reasons and none of them need have anything to do with the structure itself.

My understanding of this pyramid is that had it been built entirely at 55 degs it would have been in quite serious danger of collapsing.
I refer you to Lehner's comments on this (see:
The Complete Pyramids 1997. page 102)
Without the original plans there is no way of telling (from the structure alone) what was intended.
The most we can hope for is a plausible hypothesis explaining the 'bend'.
Unless and until somebody gives me a plausible reason to do otherwise I am sticking with Lehner's view.

Hmm, not at all sure about this.
A hypothesis is sound or it isn't.
I'm not discarding anything on grounds of age or authorship.
