"But they may have had their individual ways of expressing the idea, which is not the same thing at all."

then blame my erudition. because what I believe I said was that they all did the same thing...differently.

I see no point in splitting hairs.

what Sneferu did was definitely different from what his father did..

what Khufu did was different from Sneferu

What Djedfre did was different f.....

IMHO ...The Goal was allways the same. they were dealing with te4h same traditions and beliefs. But as much as those beliefs were entrenched from earliest times (elemental in basis) they morphed on an almost continual basis. Whether each differernce was to to whim, differeing demands, variations in available time labour and resources...

Seti I's tomb, & Unas' & Khufu's are all as similar as they are different

consider the mousetrap.... it's design changes all the time

the number of mice that need to be trapped changes

the responsibility for building may get passed around but at the end of the day it's purpose is clear.

Form the earliest Mastaba to the latter day Rock cut tombs. the funerary arrangements of Kings has stayed the same as much as it has changed.

I apologise if my language falls far behind my appreciation of the concepts. and recognise that I am only just beginning to really have a clue ( regardless how far I am ahead of the unitiated)
