If I understand your point correctly Warwick I agree with wholeheartedly. On a different note I sometimes wonder whether a hundred years or so from now when we're making synthetic proteins by the mega-tons to feed the world's population, our descendants well look back in horror wondering how we could be so blind so stupid as to tear up the whole earth so that we could raise chickens, cattle, goats, etc and then ruthlessly slaughter them for our selfish consumption. Or to continue to burn fossil fuels when we knew it was heating up the atmosphere. They'll wonder why somebody didn't "rise above" it. Well the fact is we're stuck in the age we're stuck in with the obsolete philosophies that have been handed to us. Once in awhile a Newton or Copernicus transcends it and sets us off on a different path.
