Might I suggest that you try reading Budge and form your opinion of Budge instead of following others? Here is my opinion on Budge. Just for the record Budge is hopelessly outdated, however he is a time capsule of what he and other Egyptologists thought at the time. And yes I know he ignored Erman, Brugsh and others of the German school of linguistics and became a linguistic relic. However if you read Gardiner, whom I recently discovered, was heavily and deeply influenced by the Berlin school, you'll notice plenty of references to Budge in the side notes. So every time you break open Gardiner's Grammar, you're reading some of Budge. As I've said before like it or not, and a whole lot of people hate it, you can't escape Budge's shadow.
