But there is evidence of supply-ramps. Hawass found remnants of ramps on the south side of the Khufu pyramid, thus indicating that some type of ramping was actually used during construction. Impossible angle ? It only seems impossible because we reconstruct ramps as we think how they should have looked like.
My opinion is that the AE worked exclusively vertically from the moment (building-stage) that this was possible. Evidence for this ? Maybe the median grooves in all four flanks from top to bottom are an indication ?

Than maybe always the wrong way has been suggested. And don't forget that religion/the Afterlife was a very formidable motivation in every-day life in AE.
