I used to make the same argument, but you'll find things like the barrel-vault ceiling in Dynasty V tombs, such as this one:

You'll also find arches, such as the one created in Djoser's temple at Saqqara. The measurements appear to be calculated from the Ostracon. Contrary to popular myth, it is not a super-advanced hyperbolic section... it's probably no more than the best effort of a mason to create a simple circular arch.

Despite this, the circle was still apparently never considered an important feature, from what I have observed. I've spent years looking for it, actually. Personally, I think they thought of it as an unwieldly, hard-to-manage shape, useful probably only for architectural elements like arches and columns.
