This is **not** because of any new scientific research
being conducted by the proponents of Intelligent Deisgn.
Rather the success of Intelligent Design is the result
of a well-funded, on the scale of over a million dollars,
anti-evolution public relations and political lobbying
efforts by various pro-ID organizations, including the
Discovery Institute. Examples of such lobbying efforts
was the Discovery Institute having instigated the letter
by Cardinal Schonborn supporting Intelligent Design and
having managed the showing of and the controversy
around of "The Privileged Planet" at the Smithonian as
part of their attack on evolution. They also have hired
Creative Consultants, the public relations firm who
created and managed the "Swift Boat Veterans for
Truth" campaign, for their anti-evolution public
relations efforts.

Intelligent Design is not gaining because of any
scientific merits. It is gaining because it supporters have
"deep pockets" and are willing to spend lots of money on
selling Intelligent Design like the tobacco companies sold
cigarettes to the public in general. All the gains in
Intelligent Design prove that an effective public relations
campaign can sell any product to large number of people
despite whether it is scienfitically bankrupt or, in case
of cigarettes, even kills them.
